Our National Champs: ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵCheer takes top NCA honors

The team reclaimed the trophy after winning the national championship in ’16, ’17 and ’18. In 2021, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵcheer was Gameday D1A national champion.

Dallas () – The ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵcheer team placed first at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona, Florida. The 32-member team first qualified to compete nationally at the summer 2023 NCA varsity camp. On April 11 through 13 they beat 15 teams for the championship in the Intermediate Small Coed Division 1A.

The team reclaimed the trophy after winning the national championship in ’16, ’17 and ’18. In 2021, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵcheer was Gameday D1A national champion.

ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵcheer supports Mustang football, men and women’s basketball and women’s volleyball. The team also represents ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵat numerous community events.

The National Cheerleading Association has its roots at SMU, founded in 1948 by former ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵcheerleader and creator of the “Herkie” jump, Lawrence Herkimer.
